Cape Town is NICE. Like, really nice. We knew it would be a beautiful city. But holy hell, the concentration of wealth here is pretty insane. Alongside the poverty stricken townships mere kilometers away, are some of the richest people I have seen anywhere. The neighborhood we are staying in has an Aston Martin dealership, like hey, no big deal. There is no question what type of clientele frequent these parts.
On our visit to the sparkly waterfront, we saw what is most likely the most expensive piece of machinery I will ever witness in my entire life. This yacht, nearly the size of a cruise ship, is privately owned. It's MASSIVE. It has a freaking basketball court in the back. My mouth, literally, hung open in astonishment looking at this thing.
Employing a crew of fifty people from all over the world, it is currently carrying just FIFTEEN passengers. I learned from the crewmember gaurding the entrance that it's "home" is in the Cayman Islands, and they just arrived to Cape Town from Spain a few weeks ago. And where do they plan to go next?
"Wherever he tells us to go."
